Hungary is a "ferry-land", endlessly crossing between two shores in its dreams, moving from east to west but preferably back, in the opposite direction
Endre Ady great hungarian poet
As Endre Ady put it (by the way, good luck with the pronouncing his last name correctly), Hungary is a ferry-land, endlessly moving from east to west and back throughout its entire history.
Being somewhat “trapped” in the very center of Europe, hungarian history of the last 500 years is a story of being dominated by far larger empires like the Ottomans, Austrians or Soviets and revolting against them.
On the one hand this formed the eternal conflict between “barbarian” East and the “civilized” West, Asia and Europe, “traditional” and “modern”, “ideal” and “material”.
On the other hand it created a profoundly unique culture with such a magnificent perl as Budapest.
As all of our projects, “East West Boutique Hotel” urges to dig a little bit deeper in yet another time-travel experiment.
Together we’re going to discover the stories that formed this extraordinary city - strange and beautiful fusion of these two different worlds.
Arts, science, technologies, design, food, travel, shopping, architecture, media, urban planning- each of the 18 rooms is actually 18 chapters that will tell you the stories that forged Budapest and budapesters.
